The house at 302 St Vincents Road Banyo was built in approximately 1845 by the Robinson Family.
It was bought by the late Daniel Sherratt and the present Mrs Pearl Sherratt in 1940 (her parents had rented the house for 18 years before purchasing it). Mrs Sherratt has now lived in the house for over 68 years.
Its pioneer style was created using bush timber, roughly hewn to shape using an axe, adze and saw. Most of the timber used in the construction was found locally.
The stumps were cut from solid trees and the foundation timbers were mainly natural tree trunks. The floors and walls of the four roomed house and front and back verandahs were rough edged timber.
The roof timbers were tea-tree, originally covered with timber shingles. These were later replaced with galvanised iron.
The house is still in very good condition.
